GREEK INNOVATION, GLOBAL PATENT
Cretan IAMA Galenica is an innovative food supplement that contains a patented combination of essential oils from three aromatic Cretan herbs, dittany (Origanum Dictamnus), thyme (Coridothymus Capitatus) and sage (Salvia Fruticosa) in specific proportions, which do not only work cumulatively, but also synergistically, with the action of one substance enhancing and/or complementing the action of the other. These essential oils are infused in extra virgin olive oil, in combination with vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) that contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system.
Cretan IAMA Galenica is the fruit of long research by distinguished Greek scientists/researchers of the University of Crete who, in collaboration with the Greek pharmaceutical company Galenica, managed to utilise most efficiently the wealth of the Greek land, transforming traditional knowledge into modern scientific data.
Cretan IAMA Galenica is a patented Greek Innovation (EP 10760745.9) and has been globally recognised by the Scientific Community as the first herbal preparation with such extensive published in vitro, clinical and toxicological documentation.
Multiannual research, both in vitro and in vivo, carried out before and after the launch of Cretan IAMA Galenica, has proved its beneficial effect on the symptoms caused by viral upper respiratory infections, such as the common cold and influenza.
Cretan IAMA Galenica was initiated, researched, and produced entirely in Greece. It is a brilliant research example with international recognition, transforming traditional therapeutic practices into modern scientific data.
WHO WAS INVOLVED IN ITS DEVELOPMENT?
The research team of CRETAN IAMA is comprised of distinguished university professors and researchers.
Specifically Mr. Christos Lionis, Professor of General Medicine & Primary Health Care, Mr. Elias Kastanas, Professor of Laboratory Endocrinology, Mr. Stergios Pirintsos, Professor of Biology and Scientific Director of the Botanical Garden, University of Crete, Mr. Georgios Sourvinos from the University of Crete, Professor of Clinical Virology and Director of the Laboratory of Clinical Virology PAGNI, Mrs. Marilena Kampa, Associate Professor of Laboratory Endocrinology, and Mr. Ioannis Karakasiliotis, Assistant Professor of Biology, from the Democritus University of Thrace, as well as their associates.
HOW IS QUALITY ENSURED?
The production of the plant material from which the active compounds of CRETAN IAMA are extracted is carried out by Cretan farmers, who, supported by the University of Crete, implement High Precision Agriculture methods, with full identification and traceability of raw materials (DNA-Barcoding). Similarly, state-of-the-art methods are also used to ensure the accurate content in essential oils.
The selection of the cultivation site and the areas where the substances could be produced is based on entropy models, which are supported by satellite, telescopic data as well as terrestrial measurements of environmental parameters.
All the above high-tech processes ensure the high quality as well as the stability of the raw materials of CRETAN IAMA.
WHAT DOES IT CONTAIN?
After many years of tests, the research team was led to a combination of essential oils from 3 aromatic herbs, Coridothymus Capitatus, Salvia Fruticosa and Origanum Dictamnus, in specific proportions, showing not only cumulative action, but real synergy, i.e. action significantly greater than the sum of the actions of the individual ingredients, as one substance complements and/or enhances the action of the other.
In addition, CRETAN IAMA also contains vitamin D3 that contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system.
This combination was patented (EP 10760745.9). The essential oils of the 3 aromatic herbs in the form of soft capsules are dissolved in extra virgin olive oil.
